Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Craig Teel and Dana Herron are pleased to announce the formation of Tri-State Seed Company LLC. Tri-State Seed will be constructing an office, a warehouse and bulk seed distribution facility at the intersection of Lind Road and SR 395 in Connell Washington. You may know this location as the site where Dana and Valerie Herron have their seed storage bins located just south of the Coyote Ridge Correctional facility.
We came to the decision to start our own company after much prayerful consideration. Collectively, we have over 50 years of accumulated knowledge and experience in cereal and grass seed production. Our new business has three basic assets, our integrity, our technical expertise and our relationship with each of you. Together we hope to have a lot of fun and make each of you some money.
Tri-State Seed Company’s mission is to provide you with products of exceptional value and quality along with a level of service exceeding your expectations. We will be offering seed production contracts for wheat, oats, barley and triticale as well as elite turf types of Kentucky Blue Grass. We will be actively soliciting both irrigated and dryland producers to grow our seed products. Our primary focus will be retail sales to producers in our general trade area.
We will continue our commitment to research. This spring we have planted alfalfa trials, spring wheat trials and spring canola trials. We will continue to evaluate products for both yield and quality. We are testing both synthetic and hybrid canola varieties under supplemental irrigated conditions for application in the Columbia Basin. These varieties are round-up ready and we will have fall production contracts available for canola.
Tri-State Seed Co. LLC is owned 50% by Dana and Craig and 50% by Tri-Cities Grain LLC of Pasco, Washington. We will be actively seeking your grain merchandising business. Damon Filan and Jay Akinson at Tri-Cities Grain are well respected in the area of grain origination and merchandising. They are both very knowledgeable and run a very efficient and productive operation. We are fortunate to have them on our team. You can reach them at 1-509-545-0900 or www.tcgrain.com for market commentary and current commodity quotes.
Starting a new business is truly a humbling experience. Thanks for your overwhelming support for our new venture thus far. We hope to enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship with each one of you, the best growers in the world. Check us out at www.tristateseed.com or call Craig at 528-4851 and Dana at 546-1300.
Warmest personal regards,
Craig O. Teel Dana L. Herron
